Jennifer Quillen is a Wealth Management Advisor with Legacy Consulting Group, a tax and financial planning firm in Lexington, KY that specializes in income tax and estate planning as well as small business consulting. Jennifer has been working in the financial industry since 2002, and she assists clients in the areas of retirement planning, asset protection, risk management and education funding, among others. One area in which Jennifer focuses is in helping clients, particularly small business owners, save money on their taxes.
Born and raised in Elkhorn City, Kentucky, Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky in 2002. She began her career at a CPA firm working primarily in the tax, book keeping, payroll and accounting arena before making the transition to providing those same services for an online company in the role of Chief Strategy Officer.
Around that time, Jennifer became personally convicted to become a financial advisor when she encountered a situation where a group of women, most of whom were not well-versed in finance, were being given advice that urged them to make a hasty decision out of fear. Jennifer believed the advice given was against the group’s long-term best interest, yet it was being presented as “expert”. This sparked in her a desire to educate and empower people financially by giving them the necessary tools to plan for the expected, prepare for the unexpected and be successful investors in order to achieve the future they have dreamed of.
In 2009, Jennifer earned her securities licenses and began working as a financial advisor with Edward Jones. During that time, in addition to her full-time career, she also began her own business on the side, which she ran for 7 years. In 2015, she transitioned to Legacy Consulting Group, where she now serves clients as an independent financial advisor through Money Concepts Capital Corp.
As a former small business owner, Jennifer has a first-hand understanding of the unique circumstances and challenges facing that demographic. She understands that their time is money, and they don’t have time to be “sold.” Rather than “sell” to these clients, Jennifer works to advocate for them and make the financial planning process as simple as possible. Areas in which Jennifer assists entrepreneurs include employee retirement plans and benefits and assessing taxes for potential areas to save.
Jennifer is unique in that she quite conscientiously never engages with clients or prospective clients in a way that will put them in a position of stress. She takes a no-pressure approach that allows clients to make a decision rationally rather than out of fear. When putting together a customized financial plan for a client, she considers each specific component of their lives and all feasible financial avenues. She works to maintain a good relationship with clients and asks them the right questions to get the best fit.
